COTTONWOOD -- It's the first weekend of December. Jack Frost may be in the air, but this is the time Old Town Cottonwood merchants roll out a special warm bounty of hand-crafted chocolate morsels.

The Old Town Chocolate Walk is a 20-year tradition in Cottonwood. The town is decorated with bright lights and flavored with warm smells and seasonal music. Everyone is invited.

Shop owners stay up late, Carolers fill the air and merchants compete for prizes for the finest mouth-watering chocolates.

The Cottonwood Chocolate Walk takes place Saturday, Dec. 7, 4-8 p.m.

Each Chocolate Walk ticket provides a gift bag and a free chocolate at each of more than 35 participating merchants. Chocolate collecting bags are decorated with historic images of Old Town Cottonwood.

Tickets at $25 are available for purchase at the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce or from Oldtown.org.

Stroll among the cheery shops. There will be a variety of homemade chocolates in which to indulge from each of the participating and brightly-decorated merchants.

The Mayors' Cup chocolates will be judged by Tracy Dempsey, well-known Arizona Pastry and Dessert Chef and local mayors. The Mayors' Cup will be awarded to the one merchant who crafts the finest handmade chocolate.

Old Town Cottonwood will be delightfully lit with a new interactive light thanks to Yavapai Broadcasting.
