Camp Verde's Free Fourth Friday is on this month -- and on again in a big way.
"A lot folks have been saying we would fold up when the weather got hot. We aren't. In fact we are trying to increases our offerings," says Community Development Director Melissa Preston.
Among the offerings this month is the return of the hugely popular Lowell Observatory Star Party. From 8 to 10 p.m. the good folks from Lowell will be set up on the soccer field behind town hall with some of their telescopes.
Zit is a wonderful opportunity to view the heavens while learning about what there is to see.
But before the star party begins, and in an effort to keep folks downtown until it gets dark enough to see the stars on the year's longest day, the town will host a showing of "Soul Surfer," the inspirational true story of 13-year-old Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm to a shark attack in 2003
Free popcorn and drinks will be provided to movie goes.
As always the Verde Valley Archaeology Center will have its doors open and Fort Verde will be manned (or womanned as the case may be).
The Horn Saloon will be feature the music of Kudos cover boy Robin Dean Salmon, along with dinner specials.
The merchants of the Wingfield Plaza, as well as others along Main Street will also be open with specials all evening.
