6/11/2012 9:01:00 AM Archangels benefit for at-risk children
Performers at the SACF benefit include (clockwise from left) Adam Smith, Earth to the Next Society, Bubblegun, Saith and Alex.
On Saturday, the 16th of June, will be a benefit for the "Home of the Archangels."
The Home of the Archangels is a non-profit charitable trust, dedicated to the protection and care of what is commonly described as "at-risk children."
There will be 10+ bands donating their time and talent to this cause, and for your entertainment, from noon until 10 p.m., outside on the Martini Bar stage.
Elizabeth Silk, the creator/host of this event, will be auctioning off a couple of her original paintings along with a giclee, matted and framed by well known established local artist Bearcloud.
There will also be a silent auction for various items. Local restaurants have generously donated dinners for two, and local vendors are donating items such as jewelry, rides and clothing.
"It is our ardent wish to bring awareness to and engage the local community in the development and support of the Home of the Archangels Sanctuary; an alternative establishment to the presently enforced juvenile detention centers of today," states Silk, a local artist and executive director of Silk Archangels Charitable Foundation (SACF).
"Many of these children remain in the "system" indefinitely, due to the lack of monetary and or legal means. There is a better way. It is our mission to create and provide a healing and nurturing environment for these lost children, to turn their traumas into triumphs. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and they all deserve the opportunity to be taught through love instead of fear."
Contributors include Heart of Sedona, Pita Fresh, El Rincon, Sedona Hot Yoga, Famous Pizza, Olde Sedona Restaurant, Sedona Offroad Adventures, A Day in the West, Mesa Grill Airport Restaurant, Urban Gypsy, Horsin' Around Adventures, Advanced Relief Therapy, and many more.
Performers will include Amithaba, Eric Miller, Patrick Miller, Adam Smith, Earth to the Next Society, Mockingbird, Three Trees, Alex, Rhythm Keepers, Raymond Gomez, Saith and Jeff Sebens (Bubblegun), and others.
Also involved is a production company capable of reproducing my prints onto various materials of any size upon request. All profit generated goes to the SACF.
It will be an awesome event where artists of all areas of expertise will be adding to and sharing a co-conspired collaboration of music, dance and love.
There will be a couple of surprise guests also.
Suggested donation is $7, however it is whatever one can comfortably afford. No one will be turned away. Children are most welcome.
The gift of flowers and rose petals will be the theme... rose petals everywhere.
