Paint Your Barrel: Community art project with White Hills Gallery
The community is invited to paint wine barrels at the White Hills Gallery April 27 during Free Fourth Friday in Camp Verde.
The community is invited to paint wine barrels at the White Hills Gallery April 27 during Free Fourth Friday in Camp Verde.

On Friday, April 27, from 5 p.m. to sundown, White Hills Gallery, located in downtown Camp Verde, will be hosting a community art project for Camp Verde's Free Fourth Friday event in the parking lot of 348 S. Main St.

White Hills Gallery invites the community to come participate in painting six wine barrels with local artists. The wine barrels have been generously provided by The Horn Saloon, and the paint has been provided by Camp Verde's Ace Hardware.

Previously featured artists Deborah Gallagher and Vada Lovato, as well as other local artists who are part of the current themed exhibition, "Contemporary Mosaics," will be participating in designing the barrels and the community is encouraged to come join them in painting the barrels. Once finished, the barrels will be on display outside of The Horn Saloon and White Hills Gallery.

Deborah Gallagher and Vada Lovato, along with 17 other local and regional artists, currently have works on display at White Hills Gallery, for the themed exhibition "Contemporary Mosaics." "Contemporary Mosaics" opened on March 23, and will be on display until Sunday, May 13. For the opening reception of "Contemporary Mosaics," featured artist Beth Courtright-Detwiler and White Hills Gallery hosted a community art project that had the community help create a masking tape mural in a mosaic style on the windows of the shopping center. The mural was designed by Beth Courtright-Detwiler and is still up with an invitation for the community to come participate.

White Hills Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located at 348 S. Main St. in downtown Camp Verde next to The Horn Saloon. It is open Sunday, Monday, and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. White Hills Gallery exhibits themed group shows to highlight aspects of the current contemporary art scene. And every fourth Friday, White Hills Gallery plans to host a free community art project that encourages the artists and community to come together and create works of art for the community.

For more information on how to get involved or for future events, check out the website at or call the gallery at (928) 274-7903, during business hours.
