Eleven mothers attending Camp Soaring Eagle's Winter Oncology Retreat inspired Allie Ollie Boutique's Owner, Allie Olson, so deeply, she created an exclusive new collection in their honor.
The "Fiercely Brave Collection," now available at all three Allie Ollie Boutiques in Sedona, Prescott and Flagstaff, is giving back to Camp Soaring Eagle, donating $5 from the purchase of each item to bring more campers to these once-in-a-lifetime experiences in Sedona.
On Jan. 20, Camp Soaring Eagle, a non-profit organization based in Sedona, welcomed 11 children and their families to a 3-day Winter Oncology Retreat at Briar Patch Inn, a Bed & Breakfast located in Oak Creek Canyon. The retreat was designed to give these families, who each have a child currently undergoing cancer treatment, a brief respite from medical treatments, doctors offices, and hospital rooms.
The 11 mothers attending the retreat also received a "Makeovers for Moms" day at Allie Ollie Boutique in the Village of Oak Creek. With the help of many local volunteers, Olson created an inspiring shopping spree experience for the mothers, donating complete head-to-toe outfits and accessories to each one.
"These mothers are so focused on their children, they hardly ever think of themselves," said Olson. "I wanted to give them an opportunity to treat themselves - to feel beautiful and fancy, for one day."
Ingrid Dedmore, of Mesa, is the mother of 3-year-old, Alielah, who is undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
"This is the kind of thing you see on TV," said Dedmore. "You just never think, it could happen to me, " she said, as she pointed to her new fur-trimmed coat and rainbow-colored jewelry.
"We set out to 'make-over' these moms," said Olson. "Instead they 'made-over' our hearts. Creating this experience was equally rewarding for us, as it was for these ladies."
Since January, Allie Olson has been appointed to Camp Soaring Eagle's Board of Directors, saying she looks forward to hosting more events like this one in the future.
The "Fiercely Brave" collection is available at all three Allie Ollie Boutiques, and online at www.AllieOllie.com. $5 from the purchase of each item will be donated to Camp Soaring Eagle through April 30, 2012.
