While there is no shortage of jewelers in the Sedona, Verde Valley area, The Village Gallery of Local Artists' Cooperative in the Village of Oak Creek is fortunate to have an especially innovative and vibrant group of women who are always busy creating new, individually crafted jewelry pieces for local residents and visitors.
One of the Village Gallery Cooperative's premier jewelers is Cathy DePasquale who will be demonstrating a technique essential to the creation of her beautifully delicate, yet solidly crafted pieces of jewelry at the April 14 Second Saturday event in the Gallery from 1-3 p.m.
"On Saturday, I will be demonstrating basic metal working skills which I use to shape and form copper into contemporary jewelry. I will demonstrate the changes that occur when sheet metal is hammered, textured, and dapped, explained DePasquale.
Cathy has been creating jewelry and pieces of wearable art for approximately seven years. "I enjoy working with beads, recycled materials, sheet metal, wire and textiles. Nature and everyday life inspire me to create and take my creations one step beyond the ordinary."
Please come and enjoy the fun of a Village Gallery Cooperative Second Saturday with Cathy and many of the 42 member artists. As you watch Cathy in action, be sure to pay special attention when she explains 'dapping.' Admit it - we all want to know what it means!
