Sedona i-Talks gathering takes place Saturday at Library

Join Sedona's leading adult education organizations, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and the Sedona Public Library, for a night of ideas! On Saturday, March 24, 3:30 p.m., the library will host the first Sedona i-Talks.

The program, inspired by talks presented at the annual TED conference (www.ted.org), invites community members to share, in just ten minutes or less, an idea which they believe would improve the life of an individual, our community, or even the world.

Eight speakers have been selected for the inaugural program:

• Eshan Amore - "The Plight of Youth in a Dark Age"

• Cindy Foss - "Attachment Matters"

• Jim Gandee - "Compassion into Action"

• Paul Gazda - "Weeds, Politics and Public Spaces"

• Curt Ireland - "Murder on the Rosebud Indian Reservation"

• Lynne Leakey - "Evolution of the African Safari: From Photography to Philanthropy"

• Lori Rubenstein - "Forgiving the Unforgivable"

• Debra Smith - "Tomboy to Enchantress"

The backgrounds of our speakers are as diverse as their topics: attorneys, scientists, counselors, business veterans, guides. All have in common being your neighbors, being creative and critical thinkers, and being passionate about what they do and believe.

The 90-minute program will be free to the public. It will take place in the Si Birch Community Room at the library, which is located at 3250 White Bear Road in Sedona. The event will be videotaped courtesy of Sedona Video Pros, and individual talks will be posted to the library's YouTube page (coming soon.)

The majority of selected presenters took advantage of a special seven-week course on giving "the best presentation of your life" at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Yavapai College in Sedona, which was provided in partnership with this event.

For information about the upcoming program, contact Sedona Public Library's Head of Circulation Scott Sanicki at 928-282-7714.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Verde Valley and Sedona is a self-directed membership organization within Yavapai College. It was created to meet the needs and interests of retirement-age people.
