The first Factory Outlet Art and Craft Show of the season is slated for March 8-10 at the Factory Outlet Mall in the Village of Oakcreek.

This has been a long anticipated show and there will be over 50 artists showing everything from fine art paintings to handwoven rugs, metal art, fine jewelry, photography, designer clothing, handblown glass beads, pottery, soaps and lotions, fused glass, copper wall art, and more.

Vibhas Kendzia will be playing his Native flute music and will have CDs for sale also. Vibhas is a local musician and is very entertaining.

Featured at this show will be a photographer from Orange, California. His name is Don Schimmel and his photography has taken him to the far corners of the globe, and has put him in a variety of interesting situations.

The exposure to the world is reflected in the breath of the vast inventory of images he has captured during his travels. His latest endeavor brought him back home to the American West.

Shooting with color and black and white film, Schimmel travels with a variety of equipment ranging from a Linhof Technika 4 X 5, Mamiya RZ67, Noblex panoramic6X12, to his work in the field with a Canon EOS 3 for 35MM.

Schimmel's work encompasses imagery of stunning panoramic landscapes, abstract nature studies, to the life and world of the working cowboy.

These images continue to be an inspiration whether printed in dramatic color or black and white, sepia-toned prints. Don says, "I produce the imagery, matted and framed in my 2000 square foot studio located in the Old Town section of Orange, Calif.

The studio consists of three darkrooms, comprised of Beseler enlargers. Film and prints are processed in a Jobo Drum Processer. I am currently printing on Fuji Crystal Archive paper. It is possibly the most Archieval Photo paper to date.

The work space also becomes a frame shop with matting and framing equiptment. The photographs are framed in authentic barn wood. And of course, in this day, no studio would be complete without the computer room and a calfskin couch where I can stop, catch my breath, and move into that next Great Moment in Time"

There will be several Spring Shows at the Fatory Outlet Mall, and this being the first will be very exciting and a must see. There are new stores in the Mall and more coming, so the Factory Outlet Mall is the place to be this Spring.

The Art and Craft show is on Fri, Sat and Sunday, March 8-10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The Factory Outlets are located on Hwy 179 in the Village of Oakcreek, Sedona.
