Call for local artists to participate in 2013 Open Studio program

The 10th annual Open Studios Tour is scheduled April 26-28.

The Tour is sponsored by the Sedona Visual Artist's Coalition, which a proactive arts organization founded in 1996 and now has over 150 members.

The event is a wonderful opportunity for local artists to share their work and studio space with the public.

This is one of the big artistic occasions of the year and is always an exciting and highly anticipated event.

This year the tour is adding an additional day and expanding to include artists working in the 3 C's -- Cottonwood, Cornville and Clarkdale -- as many of the SVAC members live and work in the Verde Valley. The diversity of style and medium among the participating artists is a testament to the vitality of the artistic community in the greater Sedona area.

Visitors will gain insight into artistic practices and techniques by seeing artists' pieces at various stages of completion.

The tools they use - from brushes, to the types of canvas, papers, and paints, as well as kilns for firing ceramics, and technical equipment used - will all be available for viewing.

Artists will conduct demos during the tour and the public is encouraged to ask questions.

For more information about SVAC and participating in the 2013 Open Studio Tour, visit the website at: http://sedonaartistscoalition.org/.

The Sedona Visual Artists' Coalition is a 501c3 nonprofit educational and charitable organization.

This inclusive organization welcomes artists at all levels and encourages creativity, community, and camaraderie.

Benefits of membership includes a personal artist page on our website, weekly announcements of happenings in our FYI newsletter, opportunities to show your art, Open Studios participation, social events and networking possibilities.
