Susie Reed to lead Summer Photo Workshops
Alive with Morning Glory, by Susie Reed
Alive with Morning Glory, by Susie Reed

Accomplished photographer Susie Reed will be teaching a series of classes in July and August at the Sedona Arts Center offering people some ways to work on their craft in the midst of the summer heat. Photographers of all levels are welcome to attend.

First, she's starting a new class she'll hold periodically called "Fine Tune Your Photography". It's intent is to support photographers with their efforts to take their work to the next level and beyond. As people grow and develop their skills questions and concerns inevitably arise, which Susie will address.

At each meeting she'll discuss a specific topic and then focus on what participants want. She can answer Photoshop questions, look at pictures, provide shooting tips, help with submissions for galleries, shows and contests and more. The first sessions will be on July 21 and Aug. 11 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The topic for July is "Tips for Photographing People". The August topic is "Steps to Good Photography." Each class may be taken individually.

On July 22, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., Susie is teaching "Photoshop Basics for Beginners." She'll explain how to organize photo files, create the right sizes and kinds of photos for print and the Internet and show how to use some effective Photoshop tools, which can greatly improve pictures.

By knowing how and when to use certain Photoshop tools it's possible to transform good photos into great ones. Susie will demonstrate a few of her favorite tools on July 22nd, from 1 - 3:30 pm in her "Photoshop Best Tools" class. Students are encouraged to bring laptops with Photoshop installed so Susie can help them use these tools to improve their own pictures.

Lastly, Susie is doing a "Photo Critique" on Aug. 5, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for photographers to get helpful feedback and insight about their work. Susie will also provide photo tips and talk about how to effectively edit.

Susie Reed has over 30 years experience as a fine art and commercial photographer. Her pictures have been in many publications, on several products and in major museums and galleries. She shows her beautiful photos at Goldenstein Gallery, which was voted the top gallery in Sedona the last four years by the readers of Kudos.

Classes cost $25 each. They will be held in the South Classroom at the Sedona Arts Center located at 15 Art Barn Road in Uptown. For further information or to register call (928) 204-5856 or visit
