Plein-air artist Greg Heil presents Spirit of the Desert - Arizona Landscape Altars

Greg Heil captures the spirit of the desert with vibrant hues reflecting the magic of the moment.

Plein-air artist Greg Heil will present his newest oil paintings on Friday, June 1, at the James Ratliff Gallery, Hillside Sedona.

Because Heil feels so strongly about the beauty of nature as refuge from societal stresses, he also wants to infer our need to protect these places.

In his own words Greg Heil says "In my paintings like Sunrising Grand Canyon ..... "I want to show the power of these huge walls that can surround us and make us feel so small."

And the idea behind paintings such as Vibrant Arizona I and Arizona II is to show the vibrations of color which life creates for it's own survival.

New life which springs into desert landscapes after spring rains is vibrant color coming from dust - is the spirit of the desert revealed.

In short, Greg Heil captures the spirit of the desert with vibrant hues reflecting the magic of the moment.

Heil feels people of all beliefs are imbued with a sense of something greater than themselves when they visit the Arizona Landscape Altars he has so magnificently captured on canvas.

James Ratliff Gallery invites the public to join them on Friday, June 1st at Hillside Sedona, 671 State Route 179, Suites A-1 and A-2 to meet Heil who will give a short talk at 6 p.m.

The reception hours are 5-8
