For those seeking lofty inspiration, the Verde Valley has long sported an international reputation. Even physical fitness goals are inspired by the boundless opportunities to hike and explore the area. At the Cottonwood Recreation Center (CRC), not only are members and guests meeting their annual resolutions for increased fitness, local artists are encouraged by the center's fitness coordinator Heather Klomparens to display their creations on the fitness center walls.

Invisionary Art spokesperson Al Vesey is very choosy about where he displays his inpired oil paintings. "I have displayed and sold art in galleries. Naturally, I'm complimented when someone buys my art. However, I really want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy my oil paintings. The Cottonwood Rec Center is an ideal space to share my Invisionary Art with the community. " Vesey also displays his work at the Cottonwood Public Library.

This month Cottonwood Rec Center's front desk supervisor Kaley Badger has coordinated a contest for young local artists to engage their creativity. Badger requested Vesey to be among the judges for the youth contest. Vesey says he finds it difficult to judge art, because he feels art is purely a personal expression. "There is no good or bad art. Yet, I am honored to support the Rec. Center's encouragement of young artists. " Vesey also inspires young talents in his monthly event, Fun With Art, at the Cottonwood Public Library. "It's clear that we have many very talented young artists in our community." says Vesey. " I applaud Cottonwood's recreation center, public library and staff for supporting and encouraging local artists." He went on to commend Ms. Badger and Ms. Klomparens for the standard of excellence they bring to the Cottonwood Recreation Center.

The Cottonwood Recreation Center's youth art contest will be taking entries until April 20. Winners will be announced at the CRC on Saturday May 5th, the center's 2 year anniversary celebration. For more information contact the Cottonwood Recreation Center (928)639-3200.
