Portrait artist Chris Saper to judge APAA Spring Show

The Arizona Pastel Artists Association's Spring Show begins Friday, April 13, and the APAA is priveleged to have a renowned portrait artist jdging this year's show in the Verde Valley.

Chris Saper, author of "Classic Portrait Painting in Oils: Keys to Mastering Diverse Skin Tones" and "Painting Beautiful Skin Tones with Color & Light" has recently been commissioned to do a portrait of the father of one of the member artists, for the Phoenix Children's Hospital. That connection led to her accepting the post as judge for the show.

Besides writing books Saper has filmed four instructional DVDs, all of which are published by North Light Books.  She has delivered more than 375 commissioned portraits to clients nationwide since beginning her portrait business in 1991.

The APAA organization is based in Phoenix but because of the past successful and supportive art environment for them in Sedona, the group is again returning to the Special Exhibition Gallery of the Sedona Arts Center for the fifth year in a row for their annual juried and judged show.

Locals and visitors alike have come to enjoy the vibrancy of the soft pastel medium, and this year could potentially feature more portraiture than usual as artists vie for selection in the show.

In any case, it is sure to be a wonderful exhibition beginning April 13.  Come and enjoy a reception with the pastel artists and their fabulously talented judge, Chris Saper, on Saturday,  April 14, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at SAC in Uptown Sedona.
