'Painting a Day' project completed
Sandy Tracey
Sandy Tracey

Artist and resident of Cottonwood, Sandy Tracey, just completed her year-long commitment of doing a 'Painting a Day' and posting them to her blog.

In the past, Sandy had always produced large acrylic paintings, and had success selling them before the downturn in the economy. She then decided to re-invent herself (after seeing the movie 'Julie & Julia') by doing smaller paintings every day.

"Getting started on such a project was overwhelming at first, but, after the first two weeks, I got up each day looking forward to completing a painting. This approach has allowed me to try new techniques and subject matter as well as improve my ability to compose, draw & paint in a quick manner," said Tracey.

From her blog, Sandy has had people from all over the United States purchase her small blog paintings, as well as two collectors from the UK (England & Wales).See her blog at

You will be able to browse through her blog paintings as well as many other works at the Sedona Visual Artists' Coalition Spring Art Tour & 2012 Season, which kicks off on May 5-6.

She will be a guest artist at 40 West Valley Drive in the Village of Oak Creek.
