Movie Review: Science is shaky but the view is great in long Interstellar
Interstellar is being touted as the blockbuster sci-fi movie of 2014. It is big and long, with a good measure of outer space images. It is big, because what's bigger than the universe? It is long, too long, for the stories it tells. There are three interdependent story lines here. The time is about 100 years in the future.

Nightcrawler is a very absorbing film. It never slows and it keeps us involved throughout its two hours running time. The story takes place in Los Angeles and the street scenes are filmed in detail, mostly at night.

Movie Review: Moving story centers comedy 'St. Vincent'
Bill Murray as Vincent is not somebody you would think is a candidate for canonization in St. Vincent. He is cranky, curmudgeonly, doesn't like people, lives in an unkempt house and continuously drinks himself into a drunken stupor. He is broke, overdrawn at the bank and deep in debt to a loan shark.

Movie Review: The Best of Me is not the best of Nicholas Sparks
Back in 2004, I reviewed the film, The Notebook, which was based on the Nicholas Sparks book of that same name. I praised the film because it was so well done and it was much better than the book. Alas, I cannot make the same recommendation for The Best of Me, which is also based on a Nicholas Sparks novel.
