Bullied To Silence

"Bullied to Silence" is the debut documentary feature film by Sedona filmmakers Tami Pivnick and Susan Broude. They will host Q&A discussions after each screening of the film and will be joined by members of the cast and featured subjects in the film. In addition, the screenings will feature special live performances of music from the film.

"Bullied to Silence" is a must-see, provocative, inspiring film that provides hope and a path for change to anyone who has ever witnessed or experienced being bullied or a bully. More than a feature documentary, this film empowers you to "be the change" to stop verbal bullying. "Bullied to Silence" focuses exclusively on hateful and hurtful words and cyber bullying. It gives a voice to the bullied and allows dozens of youth from all walks of life, ethnicities, physical challenges, sexual orientations, communities, and ages to tell their stories.

"Bullied to Silence," offers an inspirational message to the child who is desperately seeking a reason to live. Some feel helpless, hopeless, and without healthy options. Honest and heartfelt stories will empower those who remain "Bullied to Silence."

Exclusive conversations with Tyler Clementi's first cousin; Casey Heynis of Australia, American Idol semi finalist Brett Loewenstern, WNBA Coach Bridget Pettis, International Bullying Expert Michel Borba, and many others present candid information never before disclosed.

The documentary received the Indie Spec Best Content Award at the Boston International Film Festival this year.

The Kid With A Bike

Golden Globe nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, "The Kid With a Bike" (from France, Belgium and Italy) was also the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

This deeply moving new film by the Dardenne brothers (L'enfant, Rosetta) delves into the emotional life of troubled 11-year-old Cyril. When his father abandons him, Cyril obsessively tries to find his bicycle - after all, his father must have cared about him enough not to sell that off, he reasons.  Almost by accident, he becomes the ward of a kind hairdresser (award-winner Cécile de France), a woman who seems surprised to find herself so determined to help him. With his wild, unpredictable behavior and his disastrous search for father figures, Cyril risks losing her-though she refuses to give up without a fight. Full of heartbreaking betrayals and unexpected grace, "The Kid With a Bike" is a moving and powerful film about a child, abandoned to the elements, learning to become good, and the woman who is determined to bring the good out of him.

Both films will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre May 1-4. Showtime for "Bullied To Silence" will be 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; and 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. "The Kid With a Bike" will show at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; and 4 p.m. on Friday. Please note, there is no 4 p.m. show on Thursday do to a special event at the theatre.
