The Academy Awards shorts program will premiere in Sedona at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre for three days only: April 24-26. This is your chance to see the Oscar-nominated live action short films plus the Academy Award winners in both the Live Action and Animated categories. The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present this prestigious program at its new year-round venue.

Featured Oscar-nominated short films will include:

PENTECOST (nominee from Ireland)

When Damian is forced to serve as an altar boy at an important mass in his local parish, he faces a difficult choice: conform to the status quo, or serve an extended ban from his life's passion - football.

RAJU (Germany/India nominee)

A German couple adopts in Kolkata an Indian orphan. Their child suddenly disappears and they realize that they are part of the problem.

TUBA ATLANTIC (nominee from Norway)

When 70-year-old Oskar is told that he has only six days left to live, he wants to put things right with his brother who lives in New Jersey. Inger, a public "death angel" is sent out to help Oscar through his remaining days. A huge horn stands at the edge of the sea, built by the brothers when they were kids. Will its sound cross the Atlantic?

THE SHORE (Oscar winner for Live Action Short, from Northern Ireland)

"The Shore" is the uplifting story of two boyhood best friends - Joe and Paddy - divided for 25 years by the tumult of "The Troubles". When Joe returns home to Northern Ireland, his daughter Patricia brings the two men together for a reunion, with unexpected results. What happened all those years ago? Can old wounds be healed? The answer is both hilarious and moving. "The Shore" is about one of the small personal reconciliations that coincide with a national reconciliation.

THE FANTASTIC FLYING BOOKS OF MR. MORRIS LESSMORE

(Oscar winner for Animated Short, from USA)

Inspired, in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore is a poignant, humorous allegory about the curative powers of story. Using a variety of techniques (miniatures, computer animation, 2D animation) co-directors William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg present a hybrid style of animation that harkens back to silent films and MGM Technicolor musicals.

The Academy Awards Shorts Program will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre April 24-26. Showtimes will be 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 24 & 25) and 7 p.m. on Thursday (April 26).

Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For ticket information or reservations, please call (928) 282-1177 or visit the festival and theatre box office, located at 2030 W. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.com.
