New artist makes musical debut at Marketplace Café
Gina Machovina
Gina Machovina

Singer/songwriter Gina Machovina is a classically-trained guitarist who draws on a myriad of musical and life impressions to create and perform guitar and vocal compositions.

In performance she gracefully intertwines her original repertoire with much-loved songs and music of the classical, rock, jazz and folk genres.

She presents an enjoyable blend of Spanish guitar and modern pieces, equally at home with Bach and Albeniz as with Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton.

The audience is transported at times to a baroque ballroom and then swiftly whisked away to a seventies coffee house or rock concert.

During many years of studying, writing, and performing music throughout California and Southern Utah, both as a soloist and as a lead guitarist for an original rock band, Gina received a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar and lute performance from the University of California, Irvine.

Her voice is the perfect accompaniment to her guitar.  It's light, lyrical, and harmonious qualities enhance and exquisitely complement her consummate guitar skills.

For the last 10 years, Gina has lived in Corvallis, Ore., performing extensively at clubs, venues and special events in and around the area.

Her current work is infused with an emotional honesty woven from the rich confluence of her life experiences, charming and mesmerizing the listener with a hauntingly beautiful quality.

As often happens, life events took a completely different turn bringing Gina and her enchanting music to Sedona.

"We are excited about putting Gina on stage at the Marketplace Café" says Ken Rouse, owner of MPC.

"She will be performing from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26. Help us welcome her to Sedona."

The Marketplace Café is located at 6645 Arizona 179 in the village of Oak Creek. 928-284-5478.
