Eclectic Sedona band, Miller, Miller, Martin & Ki, (aka 3MKi) hits the Sound Bites stage on Tuesday, July 15, from 7-10 p.m. for a dazzling evening of dance grooves.
The guitar and vocal finesse and firepower of this band has continued to thrill audiences since its formation in 2010. Tuesday's music will feature danceable classic rock hits, rhythm & blues, spicy latin tunes and well-crafted originals, made for moving.
The quartet of 3MKi features three virtuoso acoustic guitarists along with rich lead vocals, harmonies, and beat box drum. The band performs an exciting blend of styles including flamenco, brazilian jazz, motown and rock'n roll.
Their versions of hits by artists such as the Eagles, the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Sting have helped win them an enraptured fan-base on the local music scene and also earned them a successful month-long tour in Arizona and California in February 2014.
In addition to having busy solo recording and performing careers, the members of this band come together to create a dynamic synergy, full of fun energy and musical versatility.
Robin Miller brings a powerful blues and rock based guitar sound to the group, full of fiery solos, honed by over forty years of professional experience. As a prolific songwriter, Robin has also written several of the original songs performed by the group.
Patrick Ki is a formally trained classical and jazz guitarist who brings a more lyrical-based guitar sound to the ensemble, influenced by his Hawaiian island upbringing. He also drives a strong and deep guitar groove to propel the group and adds wry and silly humor as the group's emcee.
The passion and fire of latin music richly colors the instrumental style of Eric Miller, who has traveled to Spain to study the art of flamenco guitar.
In fact, the popular Eric Miller Band is a staple for latin jazz in Sedona. In the 3MKi band, Eric expertly blends in sizzling rock and blues lines and velvet tenor vocals. An award-winning songwriter in his own right, Eric has also contributed many original compositions that shine in the group's repertoire.
With an ability to sing in several different languages and to improvise fluidly, vocalist Susannah Martin gives the band a unique feminine flair.
She wails on R&B or Rock tunes, delivers a touch of sultry jazz and sings fluently in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Martin also provides a strong back beat on the cajon or (beat box) to help drive the band. Susannah is also known locally as one of Sedona's "Dynamite Divas" and serves also as a private vocal coach and contemporary acapella choir director.
