Main Stage hosts Battle of the DJs

On Friday, Jan. 24, Main Stage will be the destination for some of northern Arizona's best DJs.  Main Stage will host a "Battle of the DJs" with the intention of crowning the finest DJ of the Verde Valley all while throwing one massive party.

In all, six DJs will take the stage for two rounds, spinning 15-20 minute sets.  In no particular order, the competition consists of: DJ EcKs, a recent Chicago transplant, who spins funk, deep house, hip-hop all in a continuous mix.  Recent Cottonwood addition, Gohmn (pronounced, "go¯m") is an electronic music producer and performer from Phoenix.

DJ TrebLoff, another recent Arizona inhabitant, by way of North Carolina, spins "Dirty South Electro infused dance."  Cottonwood favorite, DJ Cleancut spins dubstep and turntablism.  Zombie Apocalypse brings a high-energy heavy dubstep set while Sedona favorite DJ A*Naut is a turntablist, mashup, multi-genre specialist.  The event will be hosted by local party thrower/DJ ill.Ego and be judged, "American Idol" style by three judges, awarding points on the basis of creativity, technicality, and crowd response.  The event is $5 and begins at 9 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 25, is a night of female-fronted, stylized, "real deal" rock at Main Stage.  Veterans Scorpion vs. Tarantula bring their high-energy rock/garage/punk set to Main Stage for their debut performance at the venue.

The band has been touted for their work ethic, literally playing hundreds of shows across Arizona and the Southwest in recent years gaining a large swell of underground buzz.  They will be joined by The Pleasure Victims, a new wave/alternative act out of Glendale.  The event is free and begins at 9:30 p.m.

Main Stage is located at 1 S Main Street in Cottonwood.  The venue is open Wednesday - Saturday, 7 p.m.-2 a.m. and Sundays 4 p.m.-1 a.m.  All events are free to the public unless otherwise indicated.  For more information please call (928) 202-3460 or visit
