1/13/2014 2:12:00 PM Grammy nominee Ralf Illenberger in tonight's Living Room Series
With the New Year the The Center for Positive Living Sedona (aka CPL Sedona), located in the Village of Oak Creek at 45 Castle Rock Rd., is continuing their popular concert series called In The Living Room at CPL Sedona.
Tonight, Wednesday, January 15th the Living Room at CPL Sedona presents Grammy-nominated composer, producer, guitarist Ralf Illenberger who's experience spans a varied and successful thirty-year career that includes hits in Europe and the US, sales of over 400,000 CDs, and performances in more than 50 countries.
Three of his own compositions resulted in U.S. top 10 singles on the Narada label, and five hit albums in Europe. He has received a U.S. Grammy nomination as well as the German Record Awards nomination (German 'Grammy' equivalent).
His orchestral acoustic guitar-stylings create a unique woven tapestry that places him in the category of guitarists whose sound and technical mastery form a recognizable individual genre. His accessible instrumental guitar music borrows from classical, jazz, folk, blues, world, and ancient traditions.
Illenberger remarked, "Since I've been living in the Sedona Red Rock region my relationship to Nature and Spirit has become more important. I am very interested to explore more and more the magical and mystical side of music, the technical aspects are secondary, music has the ability to be a gateway to other worlds, I want to create music that appeals not only to the ear, but also mostly to the heart and soul."
CPL Sedona's seating is limited to 40 comfortable chairs, with a stage platform and excellent sound system. These concerts are allowing for an intimate, up close and personal showcase with some of the finest performing artists in Sedona and the Verde Valley every Wednesday from 7 to 8:15 p.m.
Unlike any music venues in Sedona, audience members have the opportunity to learn about the artists by asking questions of them during their concert.
Unlike most concerts, the audience is encouraged to ask artists questions and learn about the performer's personal stories. CPL Sedona's Music Director, Shondra Jepperson (known as half of the popular entertainment duo "Tom & Shondra," is the founder of the Living Room Music Series who started her career as a single artist. Shondra commented, "People in Sedona and especially folks in the Village of Oak Creek are really enjoying this intimate music series and they find it so much fun to be able to get to know the artists performing every Wed. night."
She continued, "Next Wednesday, Jan. 22, it's my turn to take the stage and I'm pretty darn excited cause I'll be showcasing a lot of my originals. Most folks round these parts are not used to seeing me in concert this way so it's going to be a lot of fun. I can hardly wait for the audience's questions too!"
Every Wednesday, the doors open at 6:30 p.m. for tea and coffee with the concerts starting promptly at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 cash only and because seating is limited it is highly recommended to arrive early since tickets are available only at the door the night of the concerts.
Besides the weekly Wednesday evening Living Room Music Series, CPL Sedona offers on-going Sunday celebrations at 10 a.m. with inspirational talks and music as well as offering many other wonderful programs during the week. For more information visit cplsedona.org
