Linda Sandoval at Rene at Tlaquepaque the perfect toast to Mother's Day
Linda Sandoval
Linda Sandoval

Jazz on the patio at Rene starts early on Mother's Day. Singer and pianist Linda Sandoval will begin serenading guests at 11 a.m., while listeners enjoy eggs benedict or other items from the early menu, with some delicious surprises.

The music continues throughout the afternoon and into the evening, as Linda explores her vast repertoire of standards and jazz. The songs of Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter and Johnny Mercer are among her favorites.

Linda discovered her passion for jazz when she was very young, listening to Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae and of course, Billie Holiday.

Singing professionally since the age of 5, Linda has performed throughout the United States and in Japan with small groups and big bands.

After living most of her life in Los Angeles as a singer, songwriter, music copyist and actress, Linda moved to Sedona and began accompanying herself on piano.

In a review of Linda's CD, "jazz sketches," JazzTimes wrote ". . . (Linda) exhibits a flair for the oddball tune, as in "Cow-Cow Boogie" or her own "Roxbury Drive". . . she presents her choices in a clean, unadorned fashion.

Her spare piano styling offers just the right accents behind her clear, evocative voice, which is alternately spunky and mournful."

Linda plays at Rene every Friday and Sunday night from 5:30 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, you can hear her on the patio in the afternoon from 3 p.m.

The music on Mother's Day is from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Come to Rene and listen to Linda at lunch, for tapas in the afternoon or dinner in the evening to celebrate this special day and experience the ambiance and culinary pleasures at one of Northern Arizona's finest restaurants.

For reservations, call (928) 282-9225. Rene is nestled within Tlaquepaque, at 336 SR 179, #B118.
