One of the amazing things about the Verde Valley is the vast number of talented musicians who live here. Some are active and perform regularly; others just play for their own pleasure. Regardless, many of them drop by the 10-12 Lounge in Clarkdale on the 3rd Thursday of the month for one of the best ongoing blues jams in the Southwest.

One such musician is sax player extraordinaire Duane Ewing. Ewing's true passion is traditional jazz, but he loves all good music, blues included, and is comfortable in all genres. His credits are long and diverse and include backing performers Cab Calloway, Steve Allen, Carol Channing and Toni Tennille, to name just a few. He's been a member of several jazz bands and has played in jazz festivals throughout the Southwest and West.

But this Thursday, August 16, Ewing will be at the 10-12 Lounge from 7 to 10 p.m., playing some blues with other musicians in the area.

Joe Neri & Blues Dawg have been hosting this very popular, for fans and players alike, jam session for over two years. There's a lot of variety and a lot of extended playing by the musicians.

Come on out and listen to Duane Ewing and his friends. Guaranteed to have a good time.

The 1012 Lounge, located at 910 Main Street in Old Town Clarkdale.
