Sedona newcomer Scott Holverson makes his debut as a guitarist with the Verde Valley blues band, Blues Dawg, on Friday, June 8, at the Olde Sedona Bar & Grill in West Sedona, beginning at 9 p.m.

Holverson brings a wealth of music experience from Wisconsin, having moved to Sedona almost two years ago, a versatile guitar player at home with most musical genres, including the blues.

Blues Dawg is a contemporary electric blues band, steeped in the traditions of American blues and roots music. Its repertoire consists of both originals and covers, greatly influenced by the blues legends and masters of Chicago, Memphis, Texas and California.

Founded by Joe Neri in Southern California in 1998, Blues Dawg performed at many of the blues and live music venues there, recording two studio and three live albums.

Since moving to Northern Arizona in 2005, Blues Dawg continues to gig regularly and has recorded two live albums.

In addition to fronting and managing Blues Dawg, Joe produces the annual Bob Dylan Birthday Party & Concert (since 2006), the annual Holiday Blues Revue (since 2008) and the annual Old Town Blues Fest (since 2011). Joe & Blues Dawg also host a monthly Blues Jam (since 2010).

The Olde Sedona Bar & Grill is located at 1405 W. State Route 89A in Sedona, and features a full bar and restaurant menu.
