Modern-day Renaissance man Kevin Roth coming to Sedona
Kevin Roth
Kevin Roth

Kevin Roth has delighted audiences worldwide with his unique blend of original, folk and contemporary themed songs.

Roth's concert appearances and albums have carried him across the country and abroad; performing in solo and symphony concerts, music festivals, and the White House, and making television and radio appearances.

On Monday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m., Kevin Roth will delight the audience with his unique instrumental, vocal and storytelling talent as he pays tribute to the '60s, and more. Kevin has been recognized as one of the world's leading innovative dulcimer players, and, for this Sedona Library event, he will perform with piano and autoharp as well.

Born in Philadelphia, Kevin Roth was a child prodigy, playing the piano by ear from the age of 3. At 13, he discovered the mountain dulcimer and fell in love with its sound and peaceful quality. Although the traditional music of the dulcimer is simple, Kevin's musical background and interests ranged from Peter, Paul and Mary and The Mamas & the Papas, to jazz, classical, and world music. He followed his calling and developed a style of dulcimer playing completely his own.

As a warm-up to his evening concert, Roth will be performing in the Sedona Public Library children's room at 10:30 a.m., to the delight of the younger crowd. In the early 1980s, Roth began to write, record, and perform for children. Parent magazine wrote about Kevin, "...everything children's music should be - funny, sweet, entertaining and a little bit silly."

His music career skyrocketed as he produced award-winning albums and made numerous television and concert appearances. He sang the theme song to the hit PBS/FOX television show, Shining Time Station, based on the character of Thomas the Tank Engine.

He also wrote and sang the music for several of the series' music videos. Kevin has recorded for Sony Kids, Random House, National Geographic, and the Book-of-the-Month Club, to name a few.

Kevin Roth has been called a modern-day Renaissance man. Kevin continues to perform, compose, and create new books, original colorful abstract art and new musical instruments.

His work continues to inspire in hopes of healing and creating a brighter world that speaks to the heart.

Both concerts are sponsored by our good Friends of Sedona Library and seating for the evening concert will start at 7:15 p.m.
