A free community concert will be presented by pianist Angeline Schmid and cellist Noel Snyder with guest clarinetist Konrad Owens at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, at the Creative Life center, located at 333 Schnebly Hill road. This will be their eighth annual community concert.

The Schmid-Snyder Duo is well known to local audiences since their debut program in 2003 at the Sedona Public Library, which happened to be the first chamber music concert to be held at the Sedona Public Library. From their opening concert, the Schmid-Snyder Duo has wanted to promote the joys of chamber music with the general public, free of charge.

Snyder is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he studied with Leonard Rose and Orlando Cole. He also attended Swarthmore College and Cornell University where he obtained a Ph.D. in evolutionary biology. He has authored a number of books including, "Introduction to the California Condor" and "Travails of Two Woodpeckers" Snyder was a charter member of the Bay Festival String Quartet in Rockport, Maine and over the years has performed solo concerts throughout the years in the United States.

Owens is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory and has appeared as soloist with chamber music groups throughout the Northeast and is currently principal clarinetist with Opera Naples in Florida. In Sedona he has appeared as guest artist with the Schmid -Snyder Duo for several concerts.

Schmid is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., and the University of Colorado. She taught at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania and many of her former students now teach in colleges throughout the county. As a recitalist and collaborative pianist, Schmid performed in the Northeast before coming to Sedona.

The current program will feature music by Corelli, Schumann and Faure by the Schmid-Snyder Duo and 2 sprightly Trios by Mendlesohn along with Konrad Owens. Schmid will also perform a piano solo by Franz Liszt in honor of Liszt's 200th Birthday anniversary in 2011.
