Kudos Folk Music Showcase returns Nov. 1 at Old Town Center for the Arts
Verde Valley Newspapers once again will team with the Old Town Center for the Arts for the third annual Kudos Folk Music Showcase Nov. 1.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the performances beginning at 7 at OTCA, located on the corner of 5th and Main streets in Old Town Cottonwood.

"We hope to raise the bar every year on the Kudos Folk Music Showcase," said event host and Kudos Editor Dan Engler. "This year, for the first time, we have a national act - Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard - headlining the show."

Old Town Center opens season with Celebrate the River
Old Town Center for the Arts opens its 7th Season with a concert dedicated to bringing attention to our most important natural resource - water. Musicians, artists and river advocates will gather for an evening of music, stories and poems for the 26th annual 'Celebrate the River' concert.

The concert will feature some of the region's best musicians, including Allen Ames, Marianne Kremer-Ames, John Ziegler, Claudia Tulip, Eric Zang, William Eaton, Mary Redhouse, Wendy Harford, and JoAnne Agostinelli. There'll be solo and duo presentations as well as original songs from the "River Band," all inspired by the river and the life-sustaining aspect of rain and water cycles.

Season schedule for The Met - Live in HD
The ninth season of The Met: Live in HD, begins Oct. 11 with Giuseppe Verdi's opera Macbeth. The Emmy and Peabody award winning series is broadcast worldwide from Albania to Uruguay in more than 6,600 commercial and not-for-profit venues including the Sedona Performing Arts Center.

Glamorously eccentric and enigmatic Theremin master Armen Ra returns to Sedona for "An Evening with Armen Ra" - special film screenings and live concerts - on the Goldenstein Stage at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. There will be three performances Sept. 25-27, presented by the Sedona International Film Festival, in partnership with Sedona/Verde Valley Pride.

New York's famous 92nd Street Y returns to Sedona on Tuesday, Sept. 30, when the Sedona International Film Festival hosts "The Glass Cage" featuring bestselling author Nicholas Carr in a conversation with Tim Wu.

The event will take place at 5:15 p.m. at the festival's Mary D. Fisher Theatre, live as it is happening in New York.

Former Misfits lead singer Michale Graves invades Main Stage on 'Zombies Unite' tour
Michale Graves has announced that he is embarking on a limited tour in connection with the new "Zombies Unite" album. The unprecedented album "Zombies Unite" features Graves and Russian punk band "Night of Samhain" on a 2-CD set - one CD will include the original songs performed by Night of Samhain in Russian and the other CD will have the same songs performed by Graves in English, supported by instrumentals by the band. The album, being produced by Hydraulic Entertainment, has a release date set for late October. Included on both CD's is the song "Zombies" performed in English by Graves and Night of "Samhain."
