Main Stage continues to deliver an entertainment packed schedule of artistic variety. This week will be no different and is highlighted by another installment of First Fridays at Main Stage.
Each month Main Stage demonstrates their commitment to their tagline, 'Music. Art. Community.' with their First Fridays at Main Stage event featuring live music, DJ's, art gallery opening, arts and crafts vendors, dance performances, live painting and more. The event is quickly becoming one of the biggest monthly celebrations in Northern Arizona.
August will feature young folk rockers Jared & the Mill. The band, set to release their debut album "Western Expansion" recorded by valley legend Bob Hoage, will soon set out on a series of national tours. With a sound that is often compared to the famed Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers, the young band has taken the Southwest by storm and made considerable noise at Austin, TX music festival South by Southwest.
The robust evening will also feature local DJ ill.Ego who is quickly becoming notorious for his performances at Main Stage, amassing an ever growing crowd of eager dancers. The evening will also feature live painting by Sedona artist Eric Moorcroft and Cottonwood's Rick Smart as well as a steamy dance performance by "Sugar Idols" and art gallery opening with Charles Freeman. The monthly event also features booths with local arts and crafts vendors. The free event runs from 5pm to 1am.
Wednesday, July 31, will feature the annual "Thunder Valley Rally Girl" opening round of competition at Main Stage. Each year the Thunder Valley Ralley crowns itself a winner, who comes out with a $1000 cash prize in addition to the honor. The Main Stage will be looking to find their representative over a series of four evenings of competition. July's competition will take place during Wednesday ladies night and contestants are urged to show up by 8pm to participate. Subsequent competition rounds will be held on Aug. 14, 28, and Sept. 11 with the overall winner crowned the weekend of the ralley.
Acclaimed international trio OnOff will arrive in the midst of their world tour out of Ireland on Saturday, Aug. 3.
The band has shared the stage with the likes of Bad Religion, Fall Out Boy, Reel Big Fish, and Dropkick Murphys. Winners of 2009's "Best Unsigned Band of Ireland" the band has been winning over critics in Europe and will play a host of shows in the United States. They will be joined by local favorites The Help making their debut performance at the Main Stage.
