Join us for a Classic California Beach Party! Dean Torrence continues the legacy of Jan & Dean by touring as The Jan & Dean Show starring Dean Torrence and the original Jan & Dean Band. As the architects of the California beach and surf vocal and instrumental sound, they represent the mystique, glamour and romance of Southern California - the ocean, sunshine, skate boards, hot rods, palm trees, beaches, woodies, surfing, and California Girls!
Jan & Dean's career is well-documented in pop and surf music history. Their original run in the 1960s boasts an impressive 14 gold records and 26 chart records, including "Barbara Ann," "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena," "Dead Man's Curve," "Sidewalk Surfin'," and "Ride the Wild Surf." Their biggest hit "Surf City" - co-written by Jan & Dean and Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson - was the first "surf" record to reach #1 in the US.
Reformed in the 1980's after a successful summer tour with The Beach Boys, Jan & Dean toured the country until Jan Berry's untimely death in 2004.
The Jan & Dean Show features the greatest hits of two classic California groups, Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys, as well as other great songs of the era, to present a well-crafted, vocally impressive, high-energy classic California "Musical Beach Party."
Current and former singers and players of the Brian Wilson band and The Beach Boys round out the touring personnel for The Jan & Dean Show, including Chris Farmer, Mike Kowalski, Philip Bardowell, Don Raymond and Gary Griffin.
"We are thrilled to present this extraordinary California Beach Party and concert with these legends of California surfing sound and to partner with the Sedona 30 to bring live entertainment to our incredible performing arts venue," said Patrick Schweiss, festival director. "This promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and beach fun for the whole family!"
