The Facts Keep Gettin' in the Way of the Story

Michael Peach will give to performances of "The Facts Keep Gettn' in the Way of the Story" during National Day of the Cowboy in Sedona, July 28.

The Sedona Heritage Museum presents Michael Peach in a special performance of his new original show "The Facts Keep Gettin' in the Way of the Story," a tribute to the Southwest's cowboy spirit" on Saturday, July 28.

There will be two performances at 1:30 p.m. and at 3 p.m. These special free shows are in celebration of National Day of the Cowboy.

This entertaining and family-friendly show features a mix of Peach's original cowboy poetry together with jokes and historically-based stories illustrating the humor, heroism and hubris of some of the Southwest's most colorful characters, both factual and fictional. In addition to favorites like "Little Foot Fritz," Temple Houston, and "If You Die in Arizona," this performance includes material from the writings of Arizona State Historian Marshall Trimble.

The majority of Mike's poems are based on actual events involving historic characters from the West's territorial period. His unique ability to combine accurate historic details with a tongue in cheek emphasis on quirky events has made him a longtime favorite of Sedona audiences. This show will also feature the world premiere of Mike's newest poem, "Climax Jim," which tells the story of Rufus Nephews, one of Arizona's most notorious - and least dangerous - outlaws.

Informative, entertaining and family appropriate, Mike's shows have long been a favorite of university, state and national parks, and historically-oriented audiences. He presents monthly at the Sedona Heritage Museum his "AZ History & Hi-Jinx", recognized by the state as an Official Arizona Centennial Event.

Peach will have his CDs for sale after the show.

This special show is about an hour long and appropriate for all ages. At the Wayside Chapel, lower level, 401 N. 89A in Uptown Sedona. For more info (928) 282-7038.
