Beat the summer heat and delight in the talents of Southwest Shakespeare Company to entertain you. Shakespeare Sedona will be performing two unforgettable classics this summer - one by Shakespeare and a modern one by Yasmina Reza.

This opportunity to see the award-winning Southwest Shakespeare Company is locally sponsored by Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village and L'Auberge de Sedona, with additional support from Sedona Real, Sedona Rouge, The Hampton Inn, Poco Diablo Resort, and The Briar Patch Inn.

Under the direction of Jared Sakren, Producing Artist Director, Southwest Shakespeare Company is the premiere classical theatre in Arizona with the most extensive educational programs in the state that are wholly dedicated to promoting and growing the field of classical theatre presentation and study. SSC is the largest not-for-profit theatre in the East Valley. Southwest Shakespeare has demonstrated statewide excellence and service to all communities.

This production of Much Ado About Nothing, set in 1930s Argentina, is one of the cleverest comedies The Bard ever penned. It features one of the most engaging and unlikely romantic couples in all of Shakespeare, Beatrice and Benedick. In all its intrigues, battles of wits, romance, buffoonery, and dramatic thrills, Much Ado asks us to look beneath the surface of love to its true nature, past human frailty to humility and forgiveness.

ART, a winner of both the Tony and Olivier Awards for Best Play, this play is a non-stop, dazzling fireworks display of language. ART focuses on the devastating effect on three friends when one of them purchases an expensive work of abstract art-a large painting consisting of white lines on a white canvas.

Much Ado About Nothing plays at Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, 336 State Route 179 · Sedona, at 8p.m., on Friday, June 22, Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24, on Friday, June 29, and Sunday, July 1, and again on Friday, July 6, and Saturday, July 7.
