Kudos Folk Music Showcase returns Nov. 1 at Old Town Center for the Arts

Verde Valley Newspapers once again will team with the Old Town Center for the Arts for the third annual Kudos Folk Music Showcase Nov. 1.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the performances beginning at 7 at OTCA, located on the corner of 5th and Main streets in Old Town Cottonwood.

"We hope to raise the bar every year on the Kudos Folk Music Showcase," said event host and Kudos Editor Dan Engler. "This year, for the first time, we have a national act - Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard - headlining the show."

Former Misfits lead singer Michale Graves invades Main Stage on 'Zombies Unite' tour
Michale Graves has announced that he is embarking on a limited tour in connection with the new "Zombies Unite" album. The unprecedented album "Zombies Unite" features Graves and Russian punk band "Night of Samhain" on a 2-CD set - one CD will include the original songs performed by Night of Samhain in Russian and the other CD will have the same songs performed by Graves in English, supported by instrumentals by the band. The album, being produced by Hydraulic Entertainment, has a release date set for late October. Included on both CD's is the song "Zombies" performed in English by Graves and Night of "Samhain."

Main Stage welcomes Thunder Valley Rally with TVR Biker Bash with Whiskey Rodeo, Bikini Fashion Show
Thursday, Sept. 18 sees the debut of the Monthly Blues Jam at Main Stage hosted by local bluesman Joe Neri and his band Blues Dawg.  

The monthly event is billed as "a true jam session" and is open to all players to come and play with some of Northern Arizona's finest players.

Wednesday, Oct. 1, the Living Room Music Series welcomes popular bluegrass musicians Reno & Sheila McCormick. The Center for Positive Living is located in the Village of Oak Creek at 45 Castle Rock Road. Tickets are $10 at the door, which opens at 6:30 p.m. with the concert starting at 7.

Sedona Winefest 2014 to showcase Arizona wines
The sixth annual Sedona Winefest, presented by Sedona Pines Resort, will be Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sedona Airport Vista.

The Winefest is designed to awaken the senses with a variety of fine wines from many Arizona wineries, with special emphasis on wines from the Verde Valley. The event also includes tasty cuisine, delightful music by talented musicians, an art exhibition presented by the Sedona Arts Center, and features an exclusive premium wine area.

"Made On Route 66" is a new compilation series showcasing movies made along the Mother Road; it will play exclusively in independent theaters situated along (or near) Old Route 66, from New Mexico through Arizona and will make a stop in Sedona at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Monday, Sept 29 at 4 p.m.

Regardless of the outside temperature there's a chance to "cool off" at Greg Lawson's Passion for Place Gallery in West Sedona this month. How so? Through Sept. 28, the gallery is featuring Lawson's photographic images from the far reaches of North America and Europe including some captures from within the Arctic Circle in an exhibition entitled "Northern Exposure."
